St Ives Indoor Sport Centre located at St Ives High School in Sydney’s Upper North Shore is set to open in early February 2026. The facility is a collaboration between the Department of Education and Ku-ring-gai Council and includes four sports courts, a multipurpose room, café and underground carpark. Ku-ring-gai Council has appointed Belgravia Leisure to operate the facility outside of school hours. The Role Reporting directly to the Area Manager Northern NSW, the Centre Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee the safety, evacuation and operation of the entire facility and to direct the day-to-day operation of the facility’s programs and services, as well as Duty Manager’s and Customer Service staff.
This role will primarily involve afternoon and evening shifts during school terms with day shifts required during school holiday periods. Occasional Weekend work will be required. Skills & Attributes: - Maintain compliance with all safe work methods and risk management procedures by routinely checking all areas of the facility
- Maintain positive relationship with all internal and external stakeholder’s
- Provide leadership and direction to all staff on duty
- Liaise with Council and be responsible for all required compliance and operational documentation.
- Work with local associations, clubs and hirers on booking and programmable space
- Introduce new community groups into the facility by making community connections and contacts and identifying programming needs within the local community
- Organise, implement and managing all sporting competitions
- Meet the goals and targets as set out in the annual business plan for program coordination and increase program participation during peak and off-peak time
- Adopt safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations of the programs within legislative guidelines and centre policies
- Be responsible for venue maintenance, cleaning, and security
- Maintain all program equipment in safe working order
- Manage sports coaches and referees to optimise the centre run programs and competitions
- Setup and pack away of court and multi purpose room as required
ESSENTIAL: - Current Provide First Aid/ Level 2 First Aid/ Senior First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/ CPR Certificate.
- Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
- Ability to establish community connections with groups in the local area
- Strong customer service background
- Knowledge of leisure-based programs
- Knowledge of local council plans to meet the needs of the community
- Must have evening and weekend work availability. Dry site (no aquatics)
Relevant and demonstrated experience working in a similar position at similar centres. - Relevant staff supervision and development experience.
- Proven experience and ability to build and foster relationships with key stakeholders and the community.
- Proven ability and experience in delivering high-quality customer service, in dealing with difficult customers and handling emergencies.
- Experience in contract management and working with state or local government’s.
- Proven ability and experience to develop and coordinate community involvement.
DESIRABLE: - Competent ability with Microsoft Office and prior experience/knowledge of sales processes
- Experience working with multicultural individuals and groups
- Experience with sporting competitions and events
- Oxygen Resuscitation Certificate and Defibrillator Certificate
