The Venue

 

Andrew Boy Charlton Pool is an eight-lane outdoor heated salt-water 50-metre swimming pool on the shore of Woolloomooloo Bay in the Domain in Sydney, Australia, near the Royal Botanic Gardens.

 

The Role

 

In the City of Sydney contract within Belgravia Leisure, we have a vacancy for a Venue Manager. As the key member of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the financial and operational performance of the Centre. Working closely with the Area Operations Manager, the role’s focus is on delivering results within a positive environment that encourages colleagues across all functions e.g., aquatics, fitness and customer experience to excel and reach full potential.

 

Accountabilities

  • Leading a venue that is friendly, welcoming and supportive
  • Ensuring the Centre operates in full compliance with laws, regulations and professional standards
  • Ensuring the site is achieving its commercial, operational and client relationship objectives to fulfil the contractual terms of our partnership with the City
  • Ensuring Centre facilities and equipment are well presented and maintained
  • Driving a culture of exceptional customer experiences, diversity, and high-performing teams
  • Conducting regular Centre management meetings, and effectively communicating purpose, vision and values of the contract within each colleague
  • Managing, leading and coaching direct reports, including meeting with them monthly to ensure they understand the expectations of their role, and can realise their potential
  • Reviewing the Centre’s monthly Profit & Loss Report and applying corrective actions
  • Embedding a customer-centric culture throughout the Centre, and ensuring all services and programs are underpinned by best practice customer service delivery

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively influence and negotiate
  • Commercial acumen and financial management skills
  • Ability to achieve multi-functional results
  • Ability to innovate, problem-solve, make decisions in line with company policy and agreed parameters
  • Highly developed performance coaching abilities
  • Experience in the planning and execution of operational, financial and people plans
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation.

Essential qualifications:

  • Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Certificate
  • Pool Operations Certificate
