We are looking for an individual that shows leadership, is friendly and passionate about delivering the Belgravia Leisure – 5 Year Access & Inclusion Plan within the Community.

 

The Role

 

Reporting to the Centre Manager and the National Disability & Diversity Manager, the primary focus of the Community Engagement Coordinator will be to identify, engage and collaborate with a network of key community members and groups that can assist in the implementation of programs within our centre that will enhance social capital.

 

The purpose of the Community Engagement Coordinator is to build meaningful and lasting relationships within the area to service and support community needs, including but not limited to: people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, multicultural people, international students and LGBTIQ+.

 

Through a robust research process you will identify local community needs that may be enhanced by programs delivered within our venue with special consideration for the disability, diversity and disadvantaged space. You will collaborate with the Centre Manager and other key stakeholders to develop programs that address the identified needs and emerging issues, and collect relevant information and data to evaluate and report the impact of community programs, all the while identifying opportunities to ensure that established program are, where possible, sustainable and self sufficient.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that services and activities are in compliance within funding, legal and contractual arrangements.
  • In collaboration with local stakeholders, identify and respond to relevant needs and emerging issues in the community
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and collaborative projects with other community organisations
  • Provide information, advice and educational activities for the community
  • Engage in a process of information collection, recording and reporting related to community programs that supports a continuous improvement cycle of community development

ESSENTIAL

  • Understanding of the principles of community development and associated government priorities and strategies
  • Motivation and passion to support a community development process
    Experience using evidence-based practices underpinned by collaboration with community groups, to address determined community needs
  • Experience leading a team implementing community development activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level report writing and public presentation skills
  • Current First Aid
  • Current CPR
  • Working with Children's check
  • National Police check

DESIRABLE

  • Undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in Community Development or related fields

Previous experience is a similar role is desirable.
