The Role

As the leader in delivering community outcomes in leisure and sport, this role is entrusted with ensuring the fitness, aquatic, sport and community programs to support the development of a resilient, thriving and diverse community. This will be achieved through activating the centres and wider city spaces and places through a mix of formal and informal activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring the programs create opportunities for community connections and foster a sense of pride of place in the centres to meet the diverse aspirations of the communities.

 

The key focus areas for this role include:

  • Support the Regional Manager to oversee the strategic development and coordination of programs and product offered.

  • Provide leadership and support to a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) in the areas of Health & Wellbeing, Aquatics, Community Development, Hirers, Contract compliance and Sporting Competitions.

  • Drive innovation to adapt cutting edge methodologies and ensure alignment to industry best practice

  • Maximise holistic health and wellness outcomes for the community through effective retention strategies.

  • Ensure all deliverables are completed to a high standard, within the required timeframe and to budget.

  • Provide strategic insights, reporting and improvement strategies through business analytics

Experience and qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport/recreation management or planning, business or others relevant to the role

  • Experience in building and leading high performing teams

  • Successful in delivering improvements in health and social outcomes, including increased participation levels in sport and activity

  • Leisure industry experience

  • Previous experience working with a local Council or other government entity desirable, not essential
