This is a great opportunity for a competitive, dedicated and passionate swimming squad coach looking to take their career to the next level!


The Company:

Belgravia Leisure and City Of Sydney Aquatic Club are seeking a full time Assistant Swim Coach to provide support to the Head Coach with the view to achieving the best possible results at a Local Community, NSW State and Australian National level. Targeting to build a strong pathway for all swimmers.  for the best and brightest to assist with taking the organisation into the future.


The Role
The Swim Squad Coach develops training plans that show progression for swimmers through the levels and effectively lead the team of instructors to develop the program and pathway from the Swimming and Water Safety program.

About You


You  enjoy swimming, love working with children through to adult athletes and want to teach the skills and attributes of competitive swimming and water safety to others. 


The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students that have a diverse range of ages, abilities and needs. Demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong and valuable part of the team.


Duties include:


Program Management

  • Ensuring training plans are in place for all assigned levels, including land based activities
  • Seasonal progress of athletes
  • Attend targeted swim meets, training sessions, clinics and conferences
  • Attend all club race nights/days
  • In conjunction with the Head Coach contribute to teams selections for competition
  • Consult with coaching team for advancement through the squad pathways
  • Contribution to the coordination of seasonal meet calendar


Support communication activities related to the club, which may include contribution to:

  • Weekly club notices,
  • Team and squad meetings
  • Support the Head Coach with any communication to the administration staff regarding changes in schedule, new programs and promotion of swimmers between squads



Reply to specific enquiries regarding squad programs

  • Be available to conduct assessments of new swimmers, in consultation with the

  • Director of Swimming
  • Adhere to squad policies and procedures
  • Complete daily attendance records


  • Teacher of Competitive Swimming / Competitive Strokes
  • Bronze level Qualification - Preferred
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Previous experience and success in a comparable role
  • Excellent verbal communication skills



  • Competitive Swimmer Background
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Understanding and capability to Coach also Open Water events
  • Ability to operate Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Swim Central
