The Company

 

Belgravia Health and Leisure Group proudly manage the City of Sydney's six iconic Aquatic and Fitness Leisure Centres (Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Cook and Phillip Park Pool, Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool, Victoria Park Pool, Prince Alfred Park Pool, and Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre).

 

Swim Teacher(s)

 

We are looking for eager Swim Instructors to provide swimming lessons to adults within swimming program guidelines in a safe, fun and educational environment in which students progressively swim. You will be working with diverse groups of people including those from non-English speaking backgrounds, low income groups or experiencing financial hardship. These roles (multiple) can be offered either full-time, part-time or casual basis to suit your lifestyle.

You will be:

  • Sound knowledge of swimming industry and the inter-relationship between swim club coaches, committee and facility owner
  • Technical knowledge of swimming strokes and training for competitive and inclusive swimming
  • Well-developed coaching skills and ability to teach groups at various levels
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to liaise with students and parents
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to act with courtesy and professionalism
  • Cultural sensitivity and able to work across the community
  • Flexibility, adaptability and skill in managing difficult situations and relating to member concerns
  • Respect and comply with privacy requirements to protect the interests of members and Club
  • Desire to work early mornings, nights and weekend
  • Ability to use appropriate software ie; Meet and Team Manager, Dolphin Timing, Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Swim Central (desirable)

Experience

  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Previous coaching experience at masters’ level
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult swim programs
  • Competitive swimming background (desirable)
  • Experience working with triathlon groups and open water swimmers (desirable)

Essential Requirements (or ability to obtain)

  • Development Swimming Coach Accreditation
  • Master Swimming Club Coach Accreditation
  • Pool Lifeguard Award
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Work rights in Australia
