The Role  

 

We’re looking for a vibrant and supportive HR leader to facilitate and role models best practise people & culture processes across the Mornington Peninsula area by improving the capability of our people leaders, improve employee engagement, retention and commercial outcomes.

 

The People & Culture Business Partner provides coaching on recruitment, training, HR, and rostering to support and educate our people leaders in alignment with the Central People & Culture strategy. The People & Culture Partner will be engaged in a wide variety of business as usual and project activities with a focus on the following key areas.

  • Educating leaders on effective roster practises, workforce planning, personnel cost control and compliance
  • Supporting leaders to plan and execute recruitment plans including analysing turnover, forecasting needs, driving hiring manager recruitment capability to deliver professional recruitment standards
  • Monitoring qualification gap compliance, eliminating mandatory qualification gaps by providing education and support to leaders
  • Provide coaching and support to leader managing level one people issues and performance improvement planning. Creating quality evidential documents
  • Strengthen community capacity by developing relationships with local employment agencies and school career department heads, while also facilitating and participating in Mornington Peninsula Job Expos.

 

The core areas of focus of this role are:

 

Roster Excellence: Contribute to the development of rostering education resources to articulate agreed standards and interpretations of rostering expectations and award interpretation.

Recruitment Excellence: Prepare recruitment forecasts (annually, quarterly, seasonally) using historical turnover data to formulate appropriate talent acquisition strategies.

Qualification Excellence: Contribute to the continuous improvement of qualification collection and reporting. Monitor and identify areas of the business that are underperforming, identify root cause and provide education and training to support leaders

Best practise people support: Monitor compliance and quality of our annual performance improvement cycle.

 

This is a true generalist HR role with lots of scope for new learning and experiences in a fast-paced organisation.  We proudly manage these facilities on behalf of the Mornington Council and they are a valuable and important partner and this role works to deliver compliance and excellence within this contract. 

 

About You

 

You will be a passionate and patient partner to our leaders in order to support and coach quality people outcomes. You must have a talent of managing multiple stakeholders. A flexible and logical thinker, you will like structure and have a good mind for governance which drive policy excellence. Above all, you enjoy working with people and know that sometimes a conversation just needs a ‘people’ point of view.

Your contributions will drive the professionalism and the culture of the client group. This role is hands-on and requires someone who is willing to support in ways that may challenge the traditional views of the role of HR. A team player, you do what needs to be done.

 

ESSENTIAL

  • Graduate qualifications in HR or business or progress towards qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, preferably in human resource management and service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience providing advice and guidance across a range of short-term operational HR matters and long-term HR solutions
  • Sound knowledge of relevant employment legislation, including relevant Acts (including but not limited to the Fair Work Act), Regulations and Standards
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in building and maintaining an engaged or high performing team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and an ability to produce high quality, professional documentation

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of workforce issues facing the aquatic facility management environment
