About the Site

 

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council awarded Belgravia Leisure as the management company of their Aquatic & Recreation facility located in Rosebud. 

The aquatic and recreation centre includes several facilities that will benefit many of the local community including 50m indoor pool, warm water program pool, three multi-purpose rooms for health and fitness classes, gym, wellness centre, café, family change rooms, all with a high level of regard to disability access.

 

Thus, ensuring that Belgravia Leisure continues its purpose and mission of “connecting community to leisure” and in turn providing every member of the community the opportunity to take advantage of this incredible facility.

 

About the Role

 

We are seeking to appoint a brand-new position on a full-time basis. Reporting directly to the Area Manager and supported by the Financial Performance & Analytics Manager, the Finance Business Partner for the Mornington Peninsula area is the link between finance and operations, leading analysis, modelling, budgeting and process improvements for specific areas of the organisation, converting financial and operational data into actionable insights for decision-making.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Operations to prepare accurate cashflows, budgets and
  • Act as a conduit between venue operations and the financial accounting team to ensure accurate reporting of transactional
  • Lead financial management of the contract through the provision of detailed and relevant financial and non-financial analysis, advice, reports and formulated recommendations
  • Provide financial information and support to Venue Managers, Heads of, Business Operation Managers, Belgravia management and Mornington Peninsula Shire adhering to contractual requirements.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the Mornington Peninsula Shire with the purpose of informing financial performance, risks, corrective actions and opportunities and providing analysis and insight for future opportunities.
  • Support the development of venue managers financial acumen, proactively educate and challenge managers to understand and utilise the advice and information for decision-making, financial stewardship, measurement and
  • Leverage PowerBI to improve reporting processes, ensuring data integrity, to maintain accuracy, completeness, consistency and validity data
  • Present financial and operational information into actionable insights for strategic decision making by council and senior management
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, year-end Balance Sheet reconciliation schedule and provide assistance to external auditors with value adding commentary
  • Prepare and support the development of business cases, ensuring recommendations meet the needs of the contract and are financially sound
  • Assist operations to ensure alignment with financial goals by providing insights on cost-saving opportunities and resource optimisation.
  • Identify any contractual and financial risks and proactively escalate these to the Business Operations Manager and General Manager.
  • Responsible for providing guidance to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable in relation to collection and payments aligned to council
  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders to maximise community outcomes, business growth and results
  • Use analytical ability and understanding of business operations to provide accurate and data-based information on venue operations
  • Analysing data to support strategic planning and decision-making processes for optimal venue operation
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of financial data against market trends
  • Providing guidance to leadership team for continuous learning and improvement to ensure accurate reporting including:
    - Monitoring and tracking venues financial performance and analysing variances
    - Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and efficiency strategies
    - Identify and address performance gaps in operating standards
  • Support appropriate decisions in line with business standards
  • Positively promote your employer and council

  • Perform other duties reasonably directed by the company

About You

 

The successful incumbent will;

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience using advanced accounting systems
  • Ability to analyse data and present it to management in a clear and informative way to aid business decision making
  • Ability to resolve complex accounting issues
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems with stakeholders, other colleagues and members of the public
  • Experience with statutory reporting
  • Proven ability to act with courtesy, and high levels of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work within a diverse workforce
  • Ability to produce results to demanding deadlines and work on a number of key issues simultaneously.

Essential qualifications

  • Full time work rights in Australia
  • Bachelor degree in Business/Commerce/Finance/Management
  • Current Working with Children Check (or Equivalent)
  • National Police Check
