A fantastic opportunity exists for the right candidate to manage the hospitality business unit of a new landmark, community-based sports and hospitality venue located in East Fremantle. The Role Reporting the Head Chef as Sous Chef of the East Fremantle Community Park which incorporates a Bar & Cafe, Function Centre, Fitness Centre, associated Football Oval, Bowling Greens and Croquet Greens you will be responsible for the venue’s hospitality operational, financial and program deliverables. You will develop and execute plans through engagement with the venue's leadership team and key stakeholders. With experience in hospitality, food & beverage, and events management, you will be responsible for driving the Park’s hospitality success. About You We’re looking for a passionate and hands-on Sous Chef to join the team at Carnaby’s. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, leads by example, and brings a strong focus on quality, consistency, and creativity across café, restaurant, and function service. You'll work side-by-side with a skilled and supportive team, taking pride in delivering exceptional food and memorable experiences. Key Accountabilities - Directly responsible for hands-on food preparation and overseeing service operations.
- Demonstrates a strong awareness of trends and innovations within the hospitality industry
- Collaborate with marketing teams to promote the venue on social media, develop sales strategies and attract new business.
- Manage budgets, control costs, and ensure profitability while meeting revenue targets.
- Coordinate with internal teams (kitchen, bar, and operations) to ensure high-quality service and venue success.
- Oversee food quality control, maintaining procedure manual, update menus and assist with font house operations as required.
- Recruit, train, and oversee kitchen staff, ensuring efficient service and adherence to venue standards.
- Maintain high presentation and service standards across all spaces.
- Ensure kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications - Relevant professional certifications in kitchen operations or related areas.
- 5+ years of experience as Sous chef or strong CDP ready to step up.
- Understanding of food costs, menu planning and hospitality operations.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills to manage a diverse team and ensure smooth operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with guests, staff and vendors.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
