The Centres


The City of Sydney Aquatic Facilities of Ian Thorpe Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Cook & Phillip Park Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Victoria Park Pool, Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool and Prince Alfred Park Pool are a combination of indoor and outdoor swimming pools all within the City of Sydney Council Area. 

 

The Role

 

Belgravia Leisure and City Of Sydney Aquatic Club are seeking a full/part time Assistant Swim Coach to provide support to the Head Coach with the view to achieving the best possible results at a Local Community, NSW State and Australian National level. Targeting to build a strong pathway for all swimmers. The successful applicant will have the following have experience and knowledge in the following to be successful in this role:

  • Program Management
  • Attend meets, training sessions, clinics and conferences
  • Prepare communication including club notices and coordinate club meetings
  • Support the Head Coach with any communication to the administration staff regarding changes in schedule, new programs and promotion of swimmers between squads
  • Attend to administrations duties including assessments of new swimmers in consultation with the Director of Swimming
  • Ability to communicate at various levels including swimmers, parents, committees and community organisations
  • Provide leadership and motivational ability within individual and team
  • Have technical knowledge of swimming strokes and training for competitive and inclusive swimming
  • Experience and ability to teach athletes at various age groups
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Compliance with Privacy Act requirements to protect the interests of all members
  • Maintaining confidentiality in terms of protecting the Club's performance & commercial interests
  • Ability to cope with change and demonstrated flexibility to adapt to change
  • Sounds decision making and use of initiative to provide solutions
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated desire for self-development;

DESIRABLE

  • Competitive Swimmer Background
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Understanding and capability to Coach also Open Water events
  • Previous proven experience in a coaching role up to competitive levels

ESSENTIAL

  • ASTCA Development (previously Bronze) accreditation preferred or equivalent
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2)
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
  • National Police Check
  • Availability to work weekends, public holidays and peak periods
